Paul Auster in Iran with his Winter Journal

Translated into Persian by Khojasteh Keyhan, Paul Auster’s memoir entitled Winter Journal has been released in Iran.

IBNA: The novels of American author Paul Auster have hit Iranian bookshelves since some 10 years ago and they were indeed welcomed warmly.

The English version of the Winter Journal was released in August 21, 2012.

“Facing his sixty-forth winter, internationally acclaimed novelist Paul Auster decides to write a journal as he sees himself aging in ways he never imagined,” the Amazon website wrote about the book.

Keyhan has previously translated Auster’s City of Glass, In the Country of Last Things, Leviathan, Ghosts, Oracle Night and The Brooklyn Follies.

Auster’s works The Locked Room, Moon Palace, Timbuktu and The Book of Illusions have also been rendered into Persian by other Iranian translators.

Paul Auster is the author of the bestselling Travels in the Scriptorium, The Brooklyn Follies and Oracle Night. His work has been translated into thirty languages. He lives in Brooklyn, New York.

A while ago the Persian translation of The Summer without Men, a novel by the spouse of Paul Auster, Siri Hustvedt, had been released in Iran.

The Persian translation of Winter Journal has been released by Ofogh in 196 pages.

Hajj Pilgrimage

I went on a Hajj pilgrimage in the early 1340s (1960s). At that time, few people from the army, gendarmerie and police went on a pilgrimage to the holy Mashhad and holy shrines in Iraq. Another event that happened in Khuzestan Province and I followed up was the Arab People Committee. One day, we were informed that the Arabs had set up a committee special for themselves. At that time, I had less information about the Arab People , but knew well that dividing the people into Arab and non-Arab was a harmful measure.
