2nd Int'l Book of Resistance Festival calls for submissions

The call for the 2nd International Book of Resistance Festival (Shahid Avini Literary Prize) is released. The festival is going to assess all submitted publications in 2011 and 2012 and award the superiors.

Soroush releases The Days

Soroush Publishing Company has published the Days, prominent Egyptian writer Taha Hussein’s autobiography, in Persian in Iran. IBNA: The book is rendered into Persian by the late Hussein Khadiv Jam. It encompasses Hussein’s life events since his childhood.

About 400 people will take part in Oral History of Gibraltar in the 20th Century

Dr Andrew Canessa (University of Essex) and Dr Jennifer Ballantine Perera (Gibraltar Garrison Library) are recipients of a major award from the UK Economic and Social Research Council for their project Bordering on Britishness: An Oral History of Gibraltar in the 20th Century. The project will officially start in September 2013 and finish in March 2017.

CZECH REPUBLIC: POLITICAL PRISONERS

Michal Louč and Tomáš Bouška report on ‘Political Prisoners’ a Prague-based, cross-disciplinary, unsubsidized research project. ‘The primary purpose of the project is to collect, analyze and disseminate the life stories of political prisoners who survived jailing in Stalinist prisons and working camps in the former Czechoslovakia and other European countries.

Iranian soccer player to write memoir

Persepolis team captain Mehdi Mahdavikia has intended to release his memories as a professional soccer player in Iran and Germany in a new book. IBNA: Mehdi Mahdavikia has announced that he will end his soccer carrier next year to write a memoir of his 20 years as a soccer player in Iran’s national team, Persepolis and German teams. He has made the announcement despite strong requests from his supporters for his stay in the team for a further year.

Afshin Peyrovani interested in releasing his memoir

Afshin Peyrovani, a retired Iranian footballer and a football coach, is interested in releasing his memoir. IBNA: Talking about the publication of sportsperson’s memories, Afshin Peyrovani said: “In Iran, unfortunately, the publication of footballer’s memoir isn’t common; while noted foreign footballers like Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham and Wayne Rooney have released books about their professional life which have been welcomed warmly indeed.”

“I’m Talking for the Sake of History” is the title of an oral history book based on memories of Mohsen Rafigh Doust about the Sacred Defense and the Islamic Revolution.

Another event that happened in Khuzestan Province and I followed up was the Arab People Committee. One day, we were informed that the Arabs had set up a committee special for themselves. At that time, I had less information about the Arab People , but knew well that dividing the people into Arab and non-Arab was a harmful measure.

Kak-e Khak

The book “Kak-e Khak” is the narration of Mohammad Reza Ahmadi (Haj Habib), a commander in Kurdistan fronts. It has been published by Sarv-e Sorkh Publications in 500 copies in spring of 1400 (2022) and in 574 pages. Fatemeh Ghanbari has edited the book and the interview was conducted with the cooperation of Hossein Zahmatkesh.

Is oral history the words of people who have not been seen?

Some are of the view that oral history is useful because it is the words of people who have not been seen. It is meant by people who have not been seen, those who have not had any title or position. If we look at oral history from this point of view, it will be objected why the oral memories of famous people such as revolutionary leaders or war commanders are compiled.
