According to Iranian Oral History website, the international Conference on Oral History "Arabic concept and experience" was held from September 23 to 25, 2024 (2nd to 4th of Mehr 1403), in Muscat, the capital of Oman, with the presence of a group of elites and researchers in the field of documentation.
This conference, which had been organized by the Omani National Records and Archives Authority, had three main themes titled "The Concept of Oral History in the Arab World, Regional and Global", "Arab Experiences: Methods and Products" and "Perspectives of the Arab Experience in Oral History". and was held in the form of presenting articles and expert discussion sessions and discussed the challenges and future perspectives of oral history.
On the sidelines of the International Conference on Oral History "Arabic Concept and Experience", Dr. Morteza Nouraee, the professor of the History Department of the University of Isfahan, appeared online and spoke about the experiences of the Oral History Association in Iran and Isfahan. Referring to the identification of about 10,000 active people in this field in our country, he addressed the scientific actions of the History Department of Isfahan University in the field of making oral history scientific and academic.
In the final statement of the International Conference on Oral History "Arabic Concept and Experience", it was emphasized on investing in the topics and methodology of oral history, by introducing it to the university studies in the fields of humanities and curricula in general education, in order to develop skills and capabilities.
It was also emphasized on the significance of issuing a scientific guide to the techniques and skills necessary for oral history, holding cultural and scientific events and activities related to oral history to inform people of the importance of documenting oral traditions, the need to strengthen academic exchanges, as well as cooperation programs, transfer expertise and knowledge, and create partnerships between research institutions in the Arab world.
According to the statement, the participants in this conference proposed to publish an annual magazine with the subject of studies, research and translation in the field of oral history, investing in oral documents and supporting creative industries and publishing documentaries related to oral history.
