In the name of the one who has not kept people such me far from his eyes and won't do. In the name of the one who whenever I have remembered him and has not forgotten him, he has appeared himself for me in a way.

7:30 am – the trench of mine group – Choolanieh

An example of this is my presence tonight in Choolanieh trenches located around Soosangerd. Last night, I talked to Fahim in Tehran - our house. The first few minutes were spent just listening to his laughing and giving him a few laughs. I forgot all what I had prepared to say - especially when I heard that the two percent chance of seeing the Imam had increased to one hundred percent. You don't know how happy I was! My biggest wish after "meeting God - which is really rushing to leave this world in the scene of right and wrong", was to meet my imam, my purpose, my mentor, my leader and my Marja', which will be possible with God's help and Fahim's effort and the cooperation of Mr. Karroubi.

I didn't have enough money. The talk was cut very soon.

I decided at night to leave the camp in the morning for taking a bath, having breakfast and calling. All the guys were willing to get out of the camp on Fridays.

We left the camp in the morning. We were in the bath from 6:15 to 8;30 am and washed all our dresses. After having breakfast, we went to telephone exchange and contacted Tehran. Fahim himself picked up the phone. I just liked to listen but I had to talk. I said that one of friends would come to Tehran. They would send movies and money through him, which he promised. Fahim said that he sent me a letter. He wanted me to answer him immediately - If he had not said this, I would have answered him. When I spoke to his mother, she said, "It's too bad that you didn't send us a letter." I decided to write a letter immediately.

After the phone call, we wanted to go to the theatre to pass the time, but on the way we went to the IRGC exhibition, which was very, very interesting. It had beautiful sentences and poems that I wrote down. I wrote the good ones:

Part of the will of a martyr:

If you tear over my grave, it should be for the sake of Islam not for the sake of my death.

Addressing a helpless martyr who is shown in a picture, for the question: "Where is your friend's house?" The answer was: "You should be asked."

In this exhibition, there was a photo showing a wounded young man. The image with his green eyes shouted: “Down with US.”.

I really liked that Fahim and I were watching the exhibition together, and he must have shed a lot of tears and I was sad. I told Fahim that I managed to cry, and he was happy. He also said a beautiful phrase in Azeri meaning "I love you" that I forgot it - he said it very slowly!

Due to the dim light of the candle, the rest of the memories remain in the morning and outside the trench. Peace be upon you

In the name of the one who created cold and in the name of the one who created fire and warmth and in the name of the one who created light.

7th of Azar 1360 (November 28, 1981) at 7 am – beside heater while shivering

Once again, due to dim light last night, I left the memories half-finished and now I am ready to fulfill my promise.

After visiting the exhibition, we immediately went to Friday prayers. We arrived in the middle of prayer. After the prayer, as we were going out with two of the guys, we saw Esmaeel, the leader of the mine group. He was looking for guys on his motorbike. He immediately brought us to the camp and announced that we should be equipped quickly, because we will go to Choolanieh region (current region) within one hour. In any case, we went to the armory and received a new and beautiful "Kalashnikov" along with three magazines - the ones that are yellow in color and shaped like wood. The gun was foldable. I don't know how long this new friend will be with me and at what times; God willing, I will write about it.

Our nine- people group was supposed to be sent to the war zone, but 4 of the guys went their own way in the morning after taking a bath. I think they were spending time in the cinema when they wanted to be sent; that will be clear. Anyway, five of us were sent, by a blue station wagon with a good. We moved to Soosangerd. The distance was 55 km. Most of the way had already been seized by the Iraqis. Apparently, they had advanced up to 10 kilometers from Ahvaz. Their tanks and weapons, which were full of the guys’ slogans, showed the disgrace of their escape. Before escaping, they destroyed the road bridges. They had pulled down the poles or cut the electric wires; in short, they had sabotaged a lot. Of course, due to our efforts, electric wires have been planted again and the power installed. Bridges have also been renovated. Along the way, you would see small groups of soldiers, camouflaged with their weapons, napping or playing - walking idly by. We also saw an interesting point: despite the fact that the area is full of war equipment and is in a completely military state, the villagers are engaged in farming in their fields. These scenes gave us a very good mood, in a way that I wanted to get off and kiss each of their faces and beards, but it was a pity that I couldn't! The car was moving at a high speed towards Soosangerd.

We arrived in Soosangerd; or "the city of lovers of martyrdom", as it has been written on a board installed by IRGC. What a beautiful and meaningful sentence! I hope we will be among one of those lovers.

As I approached the city, I felt a good mood, as if I had become breezy! I wanted to fly.

I had a conversation with one of the guys named "Ja’afar" - with whom we had become very good friends - that if God willed and I left this world, I send to Tehran the bullet necklace donated by Fahim, along with this notebook and my wallet, which I love very much. He promised that both of us asked God to leave this world with full awareness and after inflicting the hardest blow - which is within our power - on the Ba'ath infidels.

I was talking about Soosangerd … with a superficial look I had while passing through the city, I believe that not a single house can be found in the city without the marks of cannon balls and mortars. After the war, this city needs working and loving guys to come and renovate it. I must say that Soosangerd has been filled and emptied several times from the Baathists, and by the power of God, they have now been pushed back several kilometers - that is, as far as where I am sitting now. God willing, they will flee to the back of the borders in a few days.

We left the city to Choolanieh. We arrived there after driving several kilometers, meeting with some familiar guys. We were all happy. Among them was a man named "Vahidi" who was form Isfahan. When he saw me, he said a sentence that was very sweet for me. He said, "Your faces have become so bright!" This was what he thought.

We went to the mine group trench. We saw other guys who were busy preparing for the attack. First, they were supposed to go and cross the enemy's minefield; with flags on which the slogans "There is no God but Allah" and "Allah-o Akbar" had been written. Each of them had a night vision lantern that only insider forces could see.

It was there that I found out that all those thoughts - that tonight we will take part in the attack and go forward and kill the Baathists - were empty, and instead of the guys who are going forward, we are supposed to stay inside the trench and clear the minefield after the attack. We were totally disgruntled; well, we expected it, because our experience was not enough and now we have to stand behind the line until it's time to go!

The guys were in a strange mood! Everyone made his will to his friend. One of the guys who was form "Torkabad" grabbed and took me to a corner. He thought that I had a position in Gonbad. He wanted me to pull his old dad out of the stone cutting factory and find him a lighter job. I made a favorable promise.

The guys said goodbye one by one and we asked God for them to be victorious.

The guys left in the evening and we ate a little bread and cheese and jam under a gas mantle.

One of the guys had been injured in the operation carried out last night. He was taken to Ahvaz.

It's time for breakfast; a complete breakfast with samovar and teapot under the sun.

Destiny Had It So

Memoirs of Seyyed Nouraddin Afi
It was early October 1982, just two or three days before the commencement of the operation. A few of the lads, including Karim and Mahmoud Sattari—the two brothers—as well as my own brother Seyyed Sadegh, came over and said, "Come on, let's head towards the water." It was the first days of autumn, and the air was beginning to cool, but I didn’t decline their invitation and set off with them.

An Excerpt from the Narratives of Andimeshk Women on Washing Clothes During the Sacred Defense

The Last Day of Summer, 1980

We had livestock. We would move between summer and winter pastures. I was alone in managing everything: tending to the herd and overseeing my children’s education. I purchased a house in the city for the children and hired a shepherd to watch over the animals, bringing them near the Karkheh River. Alongside other herders, we pitched tents.

Memoirs of Commander Mohammad Jafar Asadi about Ayatollah Madani

As I previously mentioned, alongside Mehdi, as a revolutionary young man, there was also a cleric in Nurabad, a Sayyid, whose identity we had to approach with caution, following the group’s security protocols, to ascertain who he truly was. We assigned Hajj Mousa Rezazadeh, a local shopkeeper in Nurabad, who had already cooperated with us, ...
