The 340th session of night of memory, titled “Radd-e Khoon (trace of blood),” aimed at memorializing security [defense] martyrs was held in Hozeh Honari’s Sooreh Hall on Thursday, October 27, 2022. In this session, Mrs. Azarvand, the wife of martyr security defender Hossein Taghipour, Mrs. Rezvaneh Dabagh, the daughter of the late Mrs. Marzieh Hadidchi Dabagh, and Sardar (General) Mohammad Kothari shared their memories and words. Davood Salehi was presenter of this night of memory.

General Hajj Mohammad Kosari was the third and last narrator of this night of memory. He, who has a doctorate in national defense security, was born in Tehran in 1955. After the martyrs Hemat and Karimi, he was the commander of the 27th Muhammad Rasulullah (PBUH) Division of IRGC for sixteen years (1984 to 200).

In the beginning, the narrator discussed process of the Islamic Revolution before and after the victory and said, “The Islamic Republic system succeeded by Imam and basically the people themselves in 1979 after the imperial tyranny, and in this way, our beloved country of Iran no longer was fed out of the foreigner’s hands. Before the revolution, all the oil wells were in the hands of the enemies, and six and a half million barrels of oil were extracted daily; half a million of them were for domestic consumption, and six million were taken away. Out of these six million, the maximum that belonged, nominally not officially, to the Iranian nation was 16% and they took 84% of it. This 16 percent was also deposited into an account in the US that was belonged to Iran and the US. In the end, they decided for us that what should be given to this country from that 16 percent, which was mostly weapons and military equipment, not what we wanted.

The narrator continued, “Between 50,000 and 70,000 American counsellors were in our country, Iran, and the budget spent for them was from the money and capital of this nation, and it was far more than the entire annual budget of the army. They had a rule in our country that determined even the representatives of our parliament, and finally, the performance that the Shah, as the puppet of America, was implementing in practice for America's policies was also stopped. After that, Muslim Student Followers of the Imam's Line captured the American embassy, which was originally a spy nest. That’s why the oppressors and the assuming who show expansionism in the world by force and weapons and start wars, imposed the war on us.

He then narrated some memories of the holy defense and said, “Most of you have probably heard the name of Ibrahim Hadi. Ibrahim Hadi was a physical education teacher, athlete, wrestler, and a varzesh-e bastani (Persian traditional sport) practitioner, and I didn't know him either. Ibrahim Hadi and I met each other in November 1980 in Sarpol-e Zahab. They told us go from Sarpol-e Zahab to Somar axis in Kermanshah province. We were three people. One person also told me that we want to come to Islamabad and then take a bus from Islamabad to Tehran, and will return during 48 hours. He is now alive, he was a friend and neighborhood of Ibrahim Hadi. It was after the morning prayer that we asked and sought for Ibrahim Hadi's place and finally found it. When we got close to the house, we heard the sound of Murshid's Zarb globet and he praised our Lord Ali ibn Abi Talib. We opened the door and went inside; we saw a very well-built person with long beard was playing the zarb (through a pot) and sang the praises of the lord Ali ibn Abi Talib, and thirteen or fourteen people were practicing in the courtyard with Kalashnikov weapons as Iranian clubs (in Persian: Mills) and doing morning exercise. Maybe it didn't take a few seconds that Iraqis fired two shots and this exercise ended with saying Salawat. I met Ibrahim Hadi there.

Our mutual friend said to Ibrahim Hadi, “Don't you have anything to do?” I am going to Tehran and I will be back in 48 hours.” He said, “Yes I do, wait a minute.” He took out a piece of paper and wrote five names and five addresses in front of them. He also wrote amounts between 300 and 400 Tomans, totally 1,800 Tomans, in front of each name. The salary of a physical education teacher in 1980 was 1800 Tomans. He said take this paper, go and receive my salary, and will give it to the family of these five people; They need the same amount.

The narrator went on to say, “Two years later, during Operation Valfajr Moghadamati, in February 1982, when we were twenty-four and five-year-old youths, he said in the same tone, “Mamad! Finally, I asked God for martyrdom. I said, “What are you talking about, Insha’Allah, you will live for tens of years.” He said, “No, I asked God that I would be martyred in this operation and that my body would remain in these deserts like that of Fatima Zahra, peace be upon them.” You know a young man usually has very high dreams, but he comes and makes a deal with God. He makes such a deal with God that God buys him and it happens. Even after the war, at least three times I went to the area of Valfajr Moghadamati with the guys of the investigation group. We found many martyrs, but his body has not been found until today. Did someone force him? Did someone tell him to say that? It arises from a divine and loving thought.

In his next memory, General Kosari talked about martyr Hassan Tehrani Moghadam, the father of Iran's Missile Program, and said, “We had missiles before the revolution, but missiles with a maximum range of five hundred meters, which are called RPGs; or the Malyutka missile, which had a maximum range of two kilometers. I met Hasan Tehrani Moghadam in Talaieh region in March 1983. He was a student from Sarcheshmeh Crossroad and was born in 1960. He was 23 years old when he heard in the headquarters that we advanced for four or five nights and the Iraqis fought us off during the day. We crossed the canal, but Iraqis fought us off. He came and said, “I will bring a rocket tomorrow and hit the Iraqi fortress in order to be destroyed so that the guys can advance easily at night.” The next day, we saw a Toyota came in which a 12 I-beam had been installed and welded, and a missile had been placed on it. He had taken the missile from the dear brothers of Artesh’s (Iranian Army) Air Force. He had put a Phoenix on it and brought it. He said, “Go aside. Everyone moved aside, and with a fifty-meter wire finally fired a Miniature. The missile hit the ground four meters far from the Toyota and the Toyota was destroyed. We said, “What a rocket you shot! He said, “I will make a missile. Thereafter, he started and built precision-guided 2000-km range rockets with his own capable hands and other loved ones. He was even testing the intercontinental ballistic missile that he finally died a martyr.

The narrator continued, “After the war, he used to invite me to test his missiles. Especially in the Qom region, I used to go to the desert because he personally invited me. God is witness that he did night pray, recited Ziarat Ashura, closed to the handle and he achieved what he wanted. If we see today that global arrogance is afraid of Iran, firstly it is because of authority of the leadership, the second is walayat-abiding people of this dear country, and the third because of the rockets that were built by our young scientists and other loved ones with such strength, and are in the hands of our young loved ones that each one use their expertise and are very accurate.

Kosari then discussed the issues of the day and said, “It is true that global arrogance is afraid of progress of our country; because the superpower of the East, fell, and the superpower of the West, America and the Zionists, want to keep themselves. Therefore, every one or two years they design conspiracies so that they can disappoint our people and ultimately create insecurity and from this insecurity they can achieve their dirty goals and take over Iran again.

Yes, we have economic problems, but we have to solve these problems, just as we made great progress in military and political issues, we also started in economic issues. They also understood that the actions that have been taken are fundamental and based on the thinking of the resistance economy, which has terrified them. Therefore, this is where some trained people have been sent inside {the country} to carry out these inappropriate actions to terrorize the people and create terror so that it seems the Islamic Republic system can no longer continue.

Filming the crime of Shah's agents in morgue

On that day [9th of Dey 1357 in Mashhad – December 30, 1978], the whole city was in chaos; the hospitals, the shops, and in addition to these, the movie theatre was burning in fire. Even, I heard that some people had gone and set fire some centers such as "Iran-America Society" or the ones connected to the foreigners. The clashes continued till almost sunset.

Destiny Had It So

Memoirs of Seyyed Nouraddin Afi
It was early October 1982, just two or three days before the commencement of the operation. A few of the lads, including Karim and Mahmoud Sattari—the two brothers—as well as my own brother Seyyed Sadegh, came over and said, "Come on, let's head towards the water." It was the first days of autumn, and the air was beginning to cool, but I didn’t decline their invitation and set off with them.
