"Mr. Aziz Gholi Kafiani-Nejad is one of the brave, unpolluted and unexpected guards who, despite his illiteracy, was one of the most knowledgeable combat forces. From the beginning of the imposed war, he attended in the southern and western fronts and became known as a brave and courageous warrior and a skilled sniper. He was one of the leading hunters of war with the Brno rifle and sniper rifle, as well as the RPG7, so that his hunting of enemy tanks and personnel carriers was a reference to the provincial councils and forces' circles in the battalions. In Operation Karbala 10, he reached the enemy's artillery barracks with a chest and took the hot barrel of his weapon with his hand and pulled it down. "He still has traces of burns on his hands."

This selected text on the back cover of the book is the view of one of the former commanders of the Fatah Corps about Mr. Aziz Gholi Kafiani-Nejad, which gives an overview of him and arouses curiosity and arouses the reader's desire to immerse himself in these memories.

The second chapter introduces the Zeilaiۥs village, the birthplace of Mr. Aziz Gholi Kafiani-Nejad, the history of the Zeilaiۥs tribe and the situation of the Zeilaiۥs village before and after the revolution.

"Zeilai village has 56 villages ... The most remote village is in the area of Boyer-Ahmad city ... Mountainous and difficult-to-cross areas ... without flat plains ... with a very cold climate and covered with natural forests ..."

In Chapter 3, a brief biography of Mr. Aziz Gholi Kafiani-Nejad, and his presence on the battlefield in the early days of the war and his training and security missions in his own account are described:

"I, Mr. Aziz Gholi Kafiani- Nejad, a retired Revolutionary Guards member, a member of the 48th Fatah Brigade, a 20% veteran, the son of Rahim, was born in 1957 in the village of Bardaphan in the Zeilai district of Margon city in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces. In 1974, I married my first wife and in 1988, I married my second wife, who was the wife of a martyr. I have a total of 10 children, 2 daughters and 8 sons from both my wives ..."

His father died when he was six years old. In his childhood, they were very financially distressed and had a hard time. During his adolescence and youth, in addition to agriculture, he also worked as a laborer. He went to the cities of Isfahan, Shiraz, Bandar Abbas and Yasuj and suffers a lot of hardships to cover his living expenses. Sometimes he works in one place for four to six months or even a whole year and then returns to his home and village.

With such a background, after the revolution and the start of the imposed war in order to accept the order of Imam Khomeini, he decided to go to the fronts, because he knows Imam Khomeini as the savior of the oppressed and the supporter of the barefoot, and found his love and feeling in him. So, he started his journey and travels a long way from Bardphan village to Moshmi and then Pataveh Road to reach the Basij center and register to be sent to the front, but because he did not have a birth certificate, he was not registered. Before this, he had joined the Basij of Isfahan, Lordegan and Shahreza, but for this reason they had rejected him and then he had returned home disappointedly every time.

"To go to the front, I needed a copy of my ID card, which I did not have. My interest and love for the fronts caused me to take a copy of the identity card of one of my acquaintances and to refer to the Yasuj Basij for the first time and register in his name. I was excited when I filed the case and my name was included in the training list. On the night I registered, I did not sleep for a moment until morning, and with my tongue, I was busy to prayer and thanks to God."

The fourth chapter deals with the role and function of Mr. Aziz Gholi in offensive and defensive operations from his own words and those of his commanders and comrades. This chapter covers most of his martial arts. There is also talk of his presence and actions in the operations of Samen ol-A'meh, Ramadan, Muharram, Khyber, Badr, Dawn 8, Karbala 1, Karbala 10, Karbala 4 and 5 and the defense lines.

On the fronts, Mr. Aziz Gholi was known as a honest man, with faith and a very strong belief, who was very brave and fearless, and combined commitment and experience of warfare, and was self-made in individual warfare. Aziz Gholi's battles were famous in operations, especially in repelling patrols, by officials and members of battalions. The timely firing of RPGs, ending Mr. Aziz Gholi's fierce clashes with Iraqi tanks, had earned him an indescribable reputation. He was always present in the dangerous ambush bulwarks with his Russian folding rifle and RPG. He was present in the most difficult ambushes and fought without any masculine insights. He was always on the move freely. Mr. Aziz Gholi was present in every axis where the battalion got into trouble. It did not matter to him whether he was the leader of his own barrack or of another barrack. Even because of his high experience in operations, they decided to give him official responsibility; Responsibility as a barrack deputy or platoon commander or barrack commander, but he intervened and said in the same Zeilai accent that I always wanted to be an RPG player. Aziz Gholi had a fit and strong body. He was able to be awake for 48 hours.

When the battalion faced a shortage of troops, he was one of the people who went to the Zeilai area in each season and at any time, and with the help of the provincial and city mobilization officials, he called the forces and completed the battalion organization in a very limited time.

Ten days before Operation Karbala 4, each battalion was assigned a number to be sent to the Minoo Island area to build the battalion's social strongholds to approach the operational area. There were dilapidated buildings on the island that had to be anti-fire to protect themselves from enemy mortars and artillery. The first volunteer from the battalion to build the bulwark was Mr. Aziz Gholi Kafiani-Nejad. It was exhausting work, with a limited amount of manpower that had to be done in the middle of the night during the five-day period. His courage and fearlessness gave the forces a double spirit.

In the appendix page, the martyrs of Zeilai region are introduced first. The remote area of Zeilai with the least welfare and economic facilities during the imposed war was welcomed by many to be sent to war zones and sacrificed 70 martyrs in defense of the Islamic homeland; desperate young men who were present in each battalion described it as an operational battalion. The fighting spirit and martyrdom of the Zeilai youth was well known in the battalions. In this section, the names and details of all 70 martyrs are mentioned, mentioning the date and place of their martyrdom.      In the continuation of this section, it is the turn of the pictures, which include only four pieces of photos of Mr. Aziz Gholi Kafiani-Nejad, but they are of very good quality.

As usual, the last two pages of the book are devoted to references.

Destiny Had It So

Memoirs of Seyyed Nouraddin Afi
It was early October 1982, just two or three days before the commencement of the operation. A few of the lads, including Karim and Mahmoud Sattari—the two brothers—as well as my own brother Seyyed Sadegh, came over and said, "Come on, let's head towards the water." It was the first days of autumn, and the air was beginning to cool, but I didn’t decline their invitation and set off with them.

An Excerpt from the Narratives of Andimeshk Women on Washing Clothes During the Sacred Defense

The Last Day of Summer, 1980

We had livestock. We would move between summer and winter pastures. I was alone in managing everything: tending to the herd and overseeing my children’s education. I purchased a house in the city for the children and hired a shepherd to watch over the animals, bringing them near the Karkheh River. Alongside other herders, we pitched tents.

Memoirs of Commander Mohammad Jafar Asadi about Ayatollah Madani

As I previously mentioned, alongside Mehdi, as a revolutionary young man, there was also a cleric in Nurabad, a Sayyid, whose identity we had to approach with caution, following the group’s security protocols, to ascertain who he truly was. We assigned Hajj Mousa Rezazadeh, a local shopkeeper in Nurabad, who had already cooperated with us, ...
