International Conference: Anatomy of the British Policies in Iran (1800-2012)

The Institute for Iranian Contemporary Historical Studies intends to hold an international conference on the subject of anatomy of the British policies in Iran from 1800 to 2012, based on the newly found records and field researches. The abstracts will be received until 5th June and the articles until 11th Sep. 2012. Date of conference: for two days in October and November 2012.

Migrations and societies in Africa and the Middle East: a long term perspective

The 4th Global Migration History Conference (Rabat, 19-21 May 2012) The conference seeks to map and understand patterns of cross-cultural migration in Africa and the Middle East from 1500 until the present. We are interested in local, internal, international and intercontinental movements of people, as well as in free and unfree migration. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 1 December 2011. The deadline for submission of papers will be 1 May 2012.

The cover and back cover of the book is decorated with beautiful and memorable photos of the narrator during his time at the front, which, while being simple and sincere, conveys a shocking whole, the details of which are retold in the text of the memoirs. This is in contrast to the selected text on the back cover, where the narrator merely refers to one of his fathers healing skills and moral and human concerns.
