A Diary of Iran and Transoxiana (beyond the (Oxus) river)


More than one hundred year ago, a Japanese man traveled about 40 thousands miles distance from the north to the south of the world

Mr. “Ka ge aki Oeba” who his pen name is “Ka ko e” had published his reports about his endless interesting traveling and visiting to different countries and regions throughout the world.

He selected the business as a journal reporter to make the trips and to visit the far distance countries and regions, and then he sent his reports to Nation newspaper in Tokyo, Japan. Then, he collected the reports and published them in a book named “40 thousands miles distance from the north to the south”. He did not described about the undeveloped countries because he believed that most of other visitors had done it before, therefore, he liked to write about the regions where have been unknown to Japanese people.

Thus, he had done his best struggle and focus on Oceania, South Africa and Latin America as well as Transoxiana (beyond the (Oxus) river) where the old origin civilizations were, therefore, he traveled to Iran in this regard. He had begun to write his diary in a book as mentioned title in the summer of 1910 when he made his trip from Russia to Iran and Transoxiana.

Naturally, the current resources and information about Oeba’s life are a low. He was born in Yamagochi state in Japan and he was 40 years old when he traveled to Iran and also he wished to continue his traveling throughout the world to write the more reports for his people by visiting sites.

The seasonal diary was concerning with Iran rail road. He wrote that: “among countries where I have visited, there is only Iran where has the shortest rail-road which is located between Tehran and Share Ray, the shrine of Abdolazim (PBUH), which has the complicated issues around it.”

During 40 years, other countries have been following the subject of Iran rail-road establishing desultory, although they could not get the aim obviously up to now.

In the chapter related to Iran, there are two maps (a map with the subject of two areas where are influenced between England and Russia agreement, and a part of rail-road from beyond of Caspian sea (Khazar sea) and a map about the across rail-road in Middle Asia) as well as 14 pictures about Oeba’s trips, the buildings and the eye-catching sights that among all of these pictures, there is only a picture that is belong to one of Tehran’s gates, though it has not been published in this book because of dim and dark.

The Arab People Committee

Another event that happened in Khuzestan Province and I followed up was the Arab People Committee. One day, we were informed that the Arabs had set up a committee special for themselves. At that time, I had less information about the Arab People , but knew well that dividing the people into Arab and non-Arab was a harmful measure.
Book Review

Kak-e Khak

The book “Kak-e Khak” is the narration of Mohammad Reza Ahmadi (Haj Habib), a commander in Kurdistan fronts. It has been published by Sarv-e Sorkh Publications in 500 copies in spring of 1400 (2022) and in 574 pages. Fatemeh Ghanbari has edited the book and the interview was conducted with the cooperation of Hossein Zahmatkesh.
