Library pays more attention to oral history

The head of National Library and Archives of Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Reza Slahi Amiri has regarded the compilation of the documents' encyclopedia, activating of the Research Center of Documents as well as the center of Iranology and Islamology aimed at setting up of a large research center under its respective organization, expansion of the level of scientific, research and historical productions and publications, paying more attention to oral history area, bibliography of manuscripts, collection of manuscripts as well as national archives as the new plans of the organization in the Iranian New Year.
According to Salehi Amiri, the digitalization of the existing resources in the National Library and Archives of Islamic Republic of Iran will continue with more speed.
He also said that we try to increase the capacity of Iranian library and national Archive's resources through signing agreements with different countries. Moreover, paying tribute to sources of emulation in the National Library and Archives of Islamic Republic of Iran is another plan of the organization in the New Year.
He also added, "A kind of disorder has been existed in the past regarding the country's archives. However, a convergence has been shaped between the archival centers to some extent following the establishment of an institution the abbreviation of which is Mahtab. But the fact of the matter is that any organization which is keeping documents inside its own complex considers them as its own privacy, practically depriving a large portion of the community most of whom are researchers from having access to them. However, the law is crystal clear in this regard, expressing the exceptions. Of course, we in the new course are determined to enact the approved law according to which the state organizations and institutions –except the ones the law has determined - are duty bound to provide the grounds for the researchers to use the documents by giving them to the National Library and Archives of Islamic Republic of Iran. But these organizations like all other centers can define and announce a date after which access to archives will be possible. Naturally, a large portion of the contemporary documents are related to Pahlavi history and having access to them has no security consideration for researchers."
