Interviews with dignitaries, historical figures



Manager of Astan Quds Razavi's press and documents affairs said:" Astan Quds Razavi's oral history center is the most active center of Iran's oral history carrying out more than 5,000 hours of interviews with dignitaries and historical figures.

IBNA: According to the public relations department of Astan Quds Razavi's libraries, museums and docs center, Abulfazl Hassan abadi the center's manager of press and documents affairs said:" Enjoying 13 years of experience Astan Quds Razavi's archive of "Oral history center" is the richest center of oral history in Iran."

He added:" The center, one of the biggest oral history archives in Iran, enjoys varied interviews while the highest numbers of MA history students use it. Moreover it is the only center which uploads its interviews to its website and it is Iran's most active oral history center."

The archive of Astan Quds oral history keeps more than 4000 sessions of over 5000 hours of interviews with some 2000 dignitaries, he added.

The center's executed projects are for instance about the oral history of politics, society, culture and the history of dignitaries and Mashhad's scholars, history of Astan Quds Razavi's cultural and administrative establishment, victory of the Islamic revolution and the Sacred Defense years.

He went on to say that the center plans to be the biggest regional archive of oral history in the Middle East while it would like to publish the oral history memories, establish a website to hold the complete archive and ease the scholar's access to oral history sources and form a regional association of oral history.

He added:" Publication of oral history books in Iran and the articles of the 5th specialized session of oral history, presenting articles in credible scientific magazines as well as national and international oral history conferences, holding several educational workshops and communicating with credible associations of oral history in the world will be among the center's measures.

In other news he said:" The formation and expansion of oral history following the WWII kicked off in the U.S. for the first time while the establishment of the International Oral History Association in 1966 the matter entered a new phase.

In Asian countries oral history didn’t develop as it did in the United States and Europe and currently Iran, China, Japan, India, Turkey and Malaysia are among the active countries while Iran, holding an association of oral history and publishing Oral history weekly in English and Persian, is among the strongest centers in the Middle East.
