The National Defense University’s Conflict Records Research Center and the Wilson Center's Cold War International History Project are pleased to announce an upcoming conference on the international history of the Iran-Iraq war. The conference, The Iran-Iraq War: The View from Baghdad, will take place from the 25th to 27th of October, 2011, at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC.
The Iran-Iraq War: The View from Baghdad will be centered on newly available documentary evidence from Iraqi archives stored digitally at the CRRC and available to researchers at NDU.
These new materials, including high-level Iraqi government documents and recorded conversations between Saddam Hussein and his top deputies shed new light on the origins of the conflict, its global and regional Cold War context, the decision-making process of Iraqi leadership, and a wide variety of other topics.
