For more information about the ideas and themes underlying this community, see Our Focus.
Virtual participation is available for those who are unable to attend the conference in person. Proposal ideas that extend beyond these thematic areas will also be considered.
Vancouver & The Humanities
In 2015, the conference moves to Vancouver, Canada. Now a global metropolis, people have been present in the Vancouver area for nearly ten millennia. The current city, located on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish group, is home to a diversity of cultures, each bringing a vibrant and distinct cacophony of cuisines, heritage, belief systems, and principles which have helped to shape the human and cultural cityscape of today's Vancouver.
This thriving international city is an ideal venue from which to explore our perspectives on the human condition and the current state of studies of the humanities. We've strategically partnered with the University of British Columbia, whose breathtaking campus puts you within reach of the city's rich culture, diverse heritage, natural beauty, and bustling business sector.

I wanted to celebrate the new year with my family. Together with two relief workers I boarded buses designated for transporting the wounded to Choubideh and received our mission orders. I was accepted into Tehran’s polytechnic (Amirkabir) university and began to study chemical and petrochemical engineering. There was a building named Jordan in the faculty in which religious students had prepared a small room as a house of prayer and did the noon and afternoon prayers in there.
