3rd Iran and British Colonization Confab calls for papers



The 3rd edition of Iran and British Colonization themed on fight, resistance and triumph is underway. The Political Research and Studies Institute have just released call for papers. Submission due is January 4th, 2013.

IBNA: The Political Research and Studies Institute in cooperation with MAHTAB Center for coordinating historical research centers will hold the 3rd Iran and British Colonization Conference on the subject of fight, resistance and triumph.

The institute has called for papers and researches made preferably with reference to recent publications to be submitted to the secretariat (located at No. 2828, Shahid Modarres Crossroads, Valiasr Street, Tehran – phone: 22666704 – email: info@ir-psri.com – postal code: ۳۳۳– ۱۹۶۱۵) no later than January 4, 2013.

The main axes of research are: resistance and opposition against British dominance during Qajar period, resistance against interferences and tyrannies of South Police, resistance against DArcy, Reuters, and Tobacco contracts, tribal fights against British Power, resistance against new sects like Bahaism, resistance against British trespasses in Bushehr led by Aqa Seyyed Mohammad Mojtahed, and resistance against British occupations and colonialism during the first World War.

"Resistance and oppositions during the Pahlavi Period" is another axis of the conference that calls for papers on the British dominance during the Second World War, comparative study of Iranian resistance and that of other countries, and Anti-British movements of the intellectuals,students and the mass especially during the Nationalization of Oil Industry.

An analysis of the reactions and opinions of political and religious figures against Britain is another thematic axis of the conference – figures like: Ayatollah Seyyed Hasan Mirzaye Shirazi, Ayatollah Haj Mulla Ali Kani, Mirza Taghi-khan Amir Kabir, Sheikh Fazlollah Noori, Shahid Navad Safavi,… Imam Khomeini and Ayatollah Khamenei.
