Call for Fundamental Questions in the Field of Oral History

The Oral History of Iran website invites all researchers, experts, professors, and activists in the field of oral history to share their views and experiences with the audience on the most important questions in this field.
We ask you to raise a maximum of 10 fundamental questions in the field of oral history that every researcher, interviewer, and oral history enthusiast should think about, and write an answer for each in about 200 words.
The questions can include topics such as the basics and methodology of oral history, interviews, the role of the narrator and interviewer, the validity and evaluation of narratives, research ethics, recording and preserving oral sources, analyzing memories, and the relationship between oral history and historiography; but they are not limited to these topics. We will publish submitted materials on the Iranian Oral History website with the author’s name and pen name and without editing.
This call is an opportunity to form a set of specialized and diverse perspectives on fundamental questions of oral history and to expand the dialogue among experts and enthusiasts in this field.
We value the cooperation of oral history experts and researchers in this project and await their responses.

Validation: Challenges and Necessities
Where does truth stand in oral history? How can the correctness of a narrative be recognized? Does fact-checking matter? If there is exaggeration in the reporting of some accounts, how can it be detected? Is it possible to record an event accurately through the recording of a narrative? Readers and users of oral history works are often faced with these questions, and sometimes encounter doubts about some oral history works.
