Identifying the most important grounds of the formation of the Islamic Revolution in Babol and evaluating the role of social groups in the city in the victory of the Islamic Revolution are one of the most important goals of this study. This research is based on interviewing with the selected of three influential groups in the victory process of the Islamic Revolution, namely clerics, businessmen and cultural figures.

This study examines the various aspects of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Babol, including historical, geographical, religious, cultural, social and political contexts and movements based on each of them, in order to give a clear picture of the victory process of the Islamic Revolution in Babol and explain the role of important and influential strata. In the second chapter, the historical background and geographical location, cultural and religious status of the area under study have been explored. In the third chapter, the influence of seminaries and religious schools of Babol in the process of the Islamic Revolution and the role of clerics in the occurrence of the Islamic Revolution in this city have been studied. In the fourth and fifth chapters, while getting acquainted with the Babolian businessmen community and its important markets, as well as the statistical situation of cultural figures and their characteristics, the role of each of them during the victory of the Islamic Revolution has been discussed. In the sixth chapter, the significant events of the Islamic Revolution from 1963 to 1977 and since 1978 up to the victory of the Islamic Revolution have been studied; in the seventh chapter, the documents related to the research, which have been referred to in the content, have been collected.

The researcher has concluded that the unique location of Babol in northern Iran in terms of the presence of prominent Shiite scholars, such as Saeid al-Ulama and the late Ayatollah Ashrafi and the late Sheikh Kabir due to the existence of numerous seminaries and scientific centers, and also religious background of the people in following the Shiite clergy - A clear example of that is the struggle against the Baha'i sect in obedience to the ruling of Ayatollah Saeed Al-Ulama - are of the historical backgrounds of this city. In fact, the Shiite clergy has played a pivotal and unique role in the formation and growing trend of the Islamic Revolution.
