8 July 2012

The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans’ Affairs held a ceremony to praise Sacred Defense veteran writers. It was announced in the ceremony that the society of writers and researchers of martyrdom and sacrifice will be established.

IBNA: The ceremony was held on July 1, 2012 at the conference hall of Enghelab Hotel in the presence of the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Mohammad Husseini, Masoud Zarbafan, head of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans’ Affairs, Commander Mohsen Ansari, vice president of the foundation, Hujatoleslam Reza Gholami, a member of the board of trustees of the Islamic Revolution Publishers’ Society, and a number of cultural and governmental officials.

In his opening address, Commander Mohsen Ansari, vice president of the foundation, highlighted the need for preservation of Sacred Defense memories. “The braveries and sacrifices made during the period should be retold to the society,” he stated.

He went on to say, “It is a responsibility of veteran writers to describe the reality of the war and show the people what really happened during 8 years of the war.”

“One of the key goals of the foundation of Martyrs and Veterans’ Affairs is to propagate the culture of sacrifice and martyrdom by their writers,” he added. “The foundation is currently in pursuit of establishing the society of writers and researchers of the field with contributions from the writers.”

Later on, Hujatoleslam Gholami asserted that the Sacred Defense and the Islamic Revolution are not mere historical events. “In the recent few years, many have tried to limit these events to mere historical issues; however, this can never happen due to the currency of the Sacred Defense and the Islamic Revolution in our every-day lives. Proper cultural means instead of hyperbole and legends should be resorted to so that the youth will be better acquainted with such phenomena.”

Head of the Sadra Socio-Cultural Research Center further posited that the writing style of Sacred Defense writers should be in a way that the Sacred Defense realities can be conveyed to future generations like lessons to learn.

Furthermore, Zarbafan, head of the foundation, addressed the audience in which he elaborated on the center’s main missions as required by the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran. “Of the 4 main articles about the foundation, three are cultural and one is half cultural and half service.” The fourth article is making constant contact with veteran writers.
